Giovanna Chiorino, PhD

Giovanna Chiorino earned a master degree in Mathematics at the University of Turin in 1996, spent one year in Lyon (France) where she approached biomathematics. She then earned a PhD in Mathematics applied to Biology at the University of Pau et des Pays de l’Adour in 2000. Her PhD project was carried out in collaboration with the Oncology Department of the Mario Negri Institute for pharmacological research of Milan. In 2001 she spent 4 months at NCI in Frederick MD (US) and when she came back to Italy she started working at the Cancer Genomics lab of Fondazione Edo ed Elvo Tempia in Biella as biomathematician involved in gene expression data analysis. She is now Head of the lab, managing several projects and national/international collaborations in the field of cancer genomics, early detection and precision prevention.
