CancerPrev is an international nonprofit institution with a dual mission: to develop personalized approaches to cancer prevention and to connect biomedical science and medicine with individuals across divides.
Cancer is not one disease, and we are all different. Cancer prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary) needs to be tailored to each person, as susceptibility to different types of cancer varies substantially according to sex, ancestry, family history and lifestyle.
Aging is a key cancer risk factor, but traditional boundaries across generations are shifting. Several cancer types once associated predominantly with older age are occurring increasingly in younger generations, with recent evidence linking this trend to accelerated biological aging.
Differences among individuals and populations also shape our societies. CancerPrev uses rigorous science and insights from medicine and cancer prevention as common ground to connect people across geographical, cultural and social boundaries.
WHAT WE DO
PREVENT CANCER
We focus on how sex hormones, genetic background and aging impact cancer susceptibility, with particular emphasis on skin and head/neck cancer and on lobular breast carcinoma, a major form of slow-growing breast cancer that is difficult to detect and for which effective management remains a major challenge.

CONNECT MEDICINE AND SOCIETY
We engage and support young people through our Junior Membership and Fellowship Programs, creating opportunities for personal involvement and professional development.
Our Medicine & Society Seminar Series, workshops and summer schools bring internationally recognized leaders together with younger generations, with a special focus on the “human factor” — people’ life stories, choices, challenges and scientific trajectories.

WHO WE ARE
CancerPrev is an international community of researchers, physicians, patient advocates and individuals from many walks of life, united by a shared commitment to cancer prevention.
Our network connects members from leading universities and research institutions with colleagues in less represented regions, including areas affected by conflict. By combining virtual interaction with personal exchanges and meetings, we create opportunities for people who might otherwise never meet to learn from one another and work together across geographic, cultural and institutional divides.
STUDIUM – A PLACE TO MEET
Located in the small village of Pollone, in the foothills of the Italian Alps, Studium provides CancerPrev with a physical meeting place, where science, medicine and culture come together through workshops, summer schools and informal exchange across generations and backgrounds.
